About the wine

Recioto della Valpolicella is the historic, sweet, passito-style wine of the Valpolicella region in Veneto. Unlike the dry Amarone, the fermentation of Recioto is halted to retain significant residual sugar, resulting in a rich, velvety, and complex dessert wine. It is crafted from the same traditional blend of Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes, which undergo a meticulous drying process (appassimento) in specialized rooms to concentrate sugars and flavors before pressing. The wine is characterized by intense aromas of dried fruits, cherries, spices, and cocoa, balanced by a refined structure and natural sweetness. It is produced in the same hilly, volcanic, and limestone-rich zones as Valpolicella, with specific sub-zones like 'Classico' and 'Valpantena' denoting traditional geographic origins. The resulting wine is a testament to ancient winemaking techniques, offering a unique expression of the Veronese terroir that is both powerful and elegant.
