Rosso di Cerignola
About the wine
Rosso di Cerignola is a traditional red wine appellation from the Tavoliere plain in Puglia, centered around the town of Cerignola. The wine is defined by a robust blend dominated by Uva di Troia (minimum 55%) and Negroamaro (15-30%), which together provide the structure and depth characteristic of this warm, arid Mediterranean terroir. The resulting wine is typically dry, sapid, and full-bodied, with a distinctively pleasant bitter finish that evolves from ruby red to brick-toned with age. The production area, characterized by deep, mineral-rich soils and high solar exposure, allows for slow, complete grape maturation. While the base wine is approachable, the 'Riserva' typology offers a more complex expression, requiring a minimum of two years of wood aging. This DOC represents a historical link to the ancient agricultural traditions of the Daunia region, balancing the intensity of native Puglian grapes with a balanced, harmonious profile.
