Sebino
About the wine
The Sebino IGT covers a specific area in the Lombardy region, centered around the southern shores of Lake Iseo and the surrounding morainic hills. This territory, historically significant for viticulture since the Middle Ages, benefits from a mesoclimatic environment influenced by the lake, which mitigates temperatures and ensures favorable conditions for grape maturation. The IGT allows for the production of white, red, novello, and passito wines. Producers have significant flexibility in varietal selection, provided the grapes are authorized for cultivation in the Lombardy region. When a specific varietal is named on the label, it must constitute at least 85% of the blend. The area is characterized by complex morainic soils with good drainage, contributing to the distinct organoleptic profiles of the wines. The denomination serves as a broad framework for diverse viticultural expressions within this geologically rich landscape.
