Terre del Colleoni DOC, also known as Colleoni, is a versatile appellation covering a wide range of wine styles produced in the province of Bergamo, Lombardy. The zone is defined by its unique pedecollinary and hilly landscape, stretching from the Isola Bergamasca in the west to the shores of Lake Iseo in the east. The DOC is notable for its broad ampelographic base, encompassing international varieties like Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, alongside local or specialized grapes such as Schiava, Marzemino, Franconia, and Incrocio Terzi. The wines are produced in various formats, including still, frizzante, and spumante, with the latter often crafted via the classic method. The region's geological diversity, featuring limestone and sandstone formations, contributes to the distinct freshness and balance characteristic of these wines. The DOC also permits a specific Moscato Giallo Passito, showcasing the area's ability to produce high-quality sweet wines.
