Boca
About the wine
Boca is a prestigious, small-scale DOC in the Alto Piemonte region, known for producing long-lived, elegant red wines. The blend is anchored by Nebbiolo (locally known as Spanna), which must constitute 70% to 90% of the wine, complemented by Vespolina and Uva Rara (Bonarda novarese). These wines are defined by their unique terroir: high-altitude, morainic soils rich in porphyry and granite, which impart a distinct mineral tension and structural complexity. The wines are characterized by a ruby color that evolves toward garnet, a fine, ethereal bouquet, and a palate that is dry, sapid, and harmoniously tannic. Due to the rigorous aging requirements—34 months for the base wine and 46 months for the Riserva—Boca wines are noted for their exceptional longevity and ability to develop nuanced tertiary aromas over time, reflecting the cool, alpine-influenced climate of the Novara hills.
