Lessona
About the wine
Lessona is a distinguished DOC from the Alto Piemonte region, celebrated for its refined expression of the Nebbiolo grape. Grown on unique, acidic, iron-rich sandy soils of marine origin, the wine is noted for its elegance, distinct mineral sapidity, and a characteristic 'rusty' mineral profile. Unlike the more powerful Nebbiolo-based wines of the Langhe, Lessona is prized for its ethereal quality, fine-grained tannins, and aromatic complexity, often evoking notes of violets. The production is strictly limited to the commune of Lessona, where the proximity to Monte Rosa provides a favorable microclimate with significant diurnal temperature shifts. The wine undergoes a mandatory aging process, resulting in a garnet-colored red that balances structural longevity with a persistent, savory finish.
