About the wine

Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato is a distinctive, rare Piedmontese DOCG centered on the indigenous Ruchè grape. Historically consumed as a sweet wine or table grape, it was transformed into a high-quality dry red in the 1960s. The wine is celebrated for its unique aromatic profile, characterized by intense floral and fruity notes—often reminiscent of rose and violet—complemented by spicy undertones. On the palate, it is dry, harmonious, and medium-bodied, with a signature aromatic finish. The production is strictly limited to a small, hilly area in the province of Asti, where the unique soil composition of clay, silt, and sand provides the ideal environment for the grape to thrive. While the base wine is known for its immediate, vibrant character, the Riserva typology allows for extended aging, adding complexity and subtle wood-derived nuances to its already expressive personality.
