About the wine

The Monferrato DOC is a versatile and expansive appellation in the Piedmont region, designed to provide a flexible framework for both traditional and innovative winemaking. Unlike more restrictive DOCGs, the Monferrato DOC allows producers to blend a wide array of authorized non-aromatic grape varieties, facilitating the creation of both varietal wines and creative blends. The appellation covers a broad range of styles, including white, red, rosato (Chiaretto), and specific varietal wines like Dolcetto, Freisa, and Nebbiolo. The terroir, characterized by hilly terrain with clay, silt, and limestone soils, imparts a distinct freshness and fruit-forward profile to the wines. This DOC serves as a vital platform for experimentation, allowing winemakers to combine indigenous Piedmontese grapes with international varieties, resulting in wines that reflect both the historical character of the Monferrato hills and contemporary market demands.
