Colli di Parma
About the wine
The Colli di Parma DOC, established in 1982, encompasses a diverse range of wines produced in the hilly landscapes of the Parma province in Emilia-Romagna. This appellation is notable for its versatility, offering a wide array of varietal wines including Malvasia di Candia aromatica, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Nero, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera, Bonarda, and Lambrusco Maestri. The wines are frequently produced in frizzante or spumante styles, reflecting the local tradition of lively, approachable wines that pair exceptionally well with the region's renowned culinary heritage. The base 'Colli di Parma' Rosso is a blend dominated by Barbera, while the white wines are typically varietal-focused. The DOC also permits 'Riserva' designations for both white and red wines, requiring extended aging periods. The overall profile of these wines is characterized by freshness, aromatic clarity, and a strong link to the specific terroir of the Parma hills.
