Lambrusco di Sorbara
About the wine
Lambrusco di Sorbara is a distinctive, high-quality sparkling and frizzante wine from the province of Modena, celebrated for its elegance and vibrant acidity. Unlike many other Lambrusco varieties, the Sorbara grape is notoriously difficult to cultivate due to its physiological flower sterility, which necessitates interplanting with other Lambrusco varieties for pollination. This unique viticultural requirement contributes to the wine's characteristic profile: a pale, often light-colored red or rosato with a delicate, floral, and fruity bouquet. The wine is typically dry to off-dry, offering a refreshing, sapid palate with a fine, persistent mousse. Whether produced via traditional bottle fermentation or the autoclave method, it remains a benchmark for the region's historical commitment to high-quality, naturally sparkling wines. It is a sophisticated expression of the clay-rich soils of the Po Valley, balancing the rustic heritage of the Lambrusco family with a refined, modern sensibility.
