Emilia
About the wine
The Emilia IGT, also known as 'dell'Emilia', covers a vast production area across the provinces of Bologna, Ferrara, Modena, Parma, Piacenza, and Reggio Emilia in the Emilia-Romagna region. This broad denomination allows for a wide array of wine styles, including still, frizzante, spumante, novello, and passito wines in white, red, and rosato versions. The disciplinare is highly permissive regarding varietal composition, allowing for a diverse range of indigenous and international grapes, with a specific focus on the iconic Lambrusco family. Production standards are designed to accommodate the region's traditional winemaking practices, including high-yield viticulture and various fermentation techniques. The IGT serves as a flexible framework for producers to market wines that reflect the regional identity while maintaining minimum quality standards for alcohol and extract levels. It is a cornerstone of the regional wine economy, facilitating both local consumption and international export.

Production & aging
The production zone encompasses the entire administrative territory of the provinces of Bologna, Ferrara, Modena, Parma, Piacenza, and Reggio Emilia. In the province of Bologna, areas situated to the right of the Sillaro river are included, though they are excluded from producing wines labeled with the 'Lambrusco' varietal designation.
