Collina Torinese
About the wine
The Collina Torinese DOC represents a historic viticultural area situated in the hills surrounding Turin, a region with deep ties to the Savoy court since the 15th century. This appellation encompasses a diverse range of styles, from dry, structured reds based on Barbera and Freisa to aromatic, sweet, and lightly sparkling wines made from Malvasia and Pelaverga (also known as Cari). The production zone is defined by its specific hilly terrain, with vineyards situated at a minimum altitude of 180 meters above sea level, benefiting from varied clay-limestone soils. The wines are characterized by their regional authenticity, with the Barbera-based wines offering freshness and body, while the Malvasia and Pelaverga types provide a more delicate, fragrant, and traditional expression of the local terroir. The DOC serves as a guardian of these historic, small-scale production traditions, ensuring that the unique biodiversity of the Turin hills is preserved in every bottle.
