Dolcetto d'Acqui
About the wine
Dolcetto d'Acqui is a traditional Piedmontese red wine produced exclusively from the Dolcetto grape. Centered around the town of Acqui Terme in the Alto Monferrato, this DOC highlights the variety's inherent freshness and drinkability. The wine is characterized by an intense ruby red color that transitions toward brick-red with age, offering a vinous bouquet and a dry, harmonious palate with a signature almond-like or slightly bitter finish. The production zone is defined by hilly terrain with distinct clay-tuff and calcareous soils, which impart specific organoleptic qualities to the wine. While the standard version is known for its youthful, approachable profile, the 'Superiore' designation requires a minimum of one year of aging, resulting in a slightly more structured expression. It remains a quintessential example of the regional viticultural heritage, emphasizing local terroir and traditional winemaking practices.
