Dolcetto d'Alba
About the wine
Dolcetto d'Alba is a quintessential Piedmontese red wine, deeply rooted in the cultural and viticultural landscape surrounding the town of Alba. Produced exclusively from the Dolcetto grape, this DOC is celebrated for its approachable, daily-drinking character. The wine is typically ruby red with vibrant violet reflections, offering a fragrant, vinous nose dominated by notes of cherry and plum. On the palate, it is known for being dry, harmonious, and distinctly characterized by a signature delicate almond finish. The production area spans the rolling hills of the Langhe, where the diverse soils—ranging from clay and limestone to sandy marls—influence the wine's structure, resulting in more robust expressions in the Barolo and Barbaresco zones and lighter, finer profiles toward the Belbo Valley. While the standard Dolcetto d'Alba is prized for its freshness, the 'Superiore' typology requires a minimum of 12 months of aging, offering a more structured and complex interpretation of this classic variety.
