Dolcetto d'Asti
About the wine
Dolcetto d'Asti is a traditional Piedmontese red wine derived exclusively from the Dolcetto grape, one of the region's oldest indigenous varieties. Produced in the hilly terrain of the Asti province, specifically within the Langa Astigiana and the right bank of the Belbo torrent, the wine is characterized by its vibrant ruby red color and a profile that balances vinous aromas with a dry, velvety, and harmonious palate. The regulation emphasizes the use of clay-limestone soils, which are ideal for managing the vine's sensitivity to water stress. While the standard version is intended for relatively early consumption, the 'Superiore' designation allows for a more structured expression through a mandatory minimum aging period of one year. The wine is noted for its moderate acidity and approachable, fruit-forward character, reflecting the deep-rooted viticultural history of the Monferrato area.
