Fara
About the wine
Fara is a refined red wine DOC from the Novara hills in Piedmont, produced exclusively within the communes of Fara Novarese and Briona. This historic appellation, with roots dating back to Roman times, centers on the Nebbiolo grape—locally known as Spanna—which must constitute 50% to 70% of the blend. It is complemented by Vespolina and Uva Rara (Bonarda novarese), which provide aromatic complexity and structural balance. The wines are characterized by their ruby red color, dry and harmonious palate, and a distinct sapidity derived from the morainic, clay-rich soils of the Sesia valley. Fara requires significant aging, with a minimum of 22 months (12 in wood) for the base wine and 34 months (20 in wood) for the Riserva, resulting in a sophisticated, age-worthy profile that reflects the unique terroir of the eastern Piedmontese foothills.

Production & aging
The production zone is strictly limited to the administrative territories of the communes of Fara Novarese and Briona in the province of Novara, Piedmont. The vineyards are situated on hilly, morainic terrain with clay, silt, and sandy soils, at altitudes between 180 and 300 meters above sea level, ensuring optimal sun exposure for the maturation of the grapes.
