About the wine

The Gabiano DOC is a small, specialized appellation located in the Monferrato hills of Piedmont, specifically within the communes of Gabiano and Moncestino. This red wine is primarily composed of Barbera (90-95%), blended with small amounts of Freisa and Grignolino (5-10%). This unique ampelographic blend balances the structural intensity and sugar content of Barbera with the characteristic vivacity and lighter color profile of Grignolino. The resulting wine is typically ruby red, evolving toward garnet with age, and offers a dry, harmonious, and medium-bodied palate. It is a traditional wine designed to pair with the rustic, flavorful cuisine of the region. Production is strictly limited to hilly, clay-limestone sites, excluding valley floors, to ensure quality. The DOC also provides for a 'Riserva' designation, requiring a minimum of two years of aging to achieve a more velvety and complex profile.
