Loazzolo
About the wine
Loazzolo is a rare and highly specialized DOC from the Piedmont region, exclusively dedicated to a sweet, late-harvest white wine produced from 100% Moscato Bianco grapes. The production is confined to the small commune of Loazzolo in the province of Asti, where high-altitude, sun-drenched hillside vineyards provide the ideal conditions for the grapes to undergo natural dehydration, often aided by the development of 'noble rot' (Botrytis cinerea). The wine is characterized by a brilliant golden color and a complex aromatic profile featuring notes of musk, vanilla, and candied fruit. It is a structured, sweet wine with a minimum total alcohol content of 15.5% and significant residual sugar. The production process is strictly regulated, requiring a minimum of two years of aging, including at least six months in small wooden barrels (max 250 liters). This meticulous approach results in a limited-production, high-quality dessert wine that reflects the unique microclimate of the Bormida and Belbo valley ridges.

Production & aging
The production area is strictly limited to the administrative territory of the commune of Loazzolo, located in the province of Asti, Piedmont. The vineyards are situated on high-altitude, sun-exposed hillsides at elevations exceeding 400 meters, characterized by marly-calcareous soils and specific slope requirements to ensure optimal ripening and the development of noble rot.
