Pinerolese
About the wine
The Pinerolese DOC, centered around the town of Pinerolo in the Piedmont region, represents a diverse viticultural landscape at the foot of the Cottian Alps. This appellation is notable for its 'heroic' mountain viticulture, often featuring steep, terraced vineyards. The DOC covers a wide array of styles, ranging from classic Piedmontese reds like Barbera, Nebbiolo, and Dolcetto to unique local specialties such as the historical Doux d'Henry and the niche, high-altitude Ramìe blend. The wines are generally characterized by their freshness, elegance, and distinct alpine influence, which preserves acidity and aromatic complexity. While the base Pinerolese Rosso and Rosato allow for a broad blend of regional varieties, the varietal-specific wines highlight the region's commitment to preserving its ampelographic heritage. The production zone spans various communes in the provinces of Turin and Cuneo, benefiting from varied pedoclimatic conditions that favor both structured reds and vibrant, mineral-driven whites.
