Reno
About the wine
The Reno DOC encompasses a range of white wines produced in the fertile plains between Bologna and Modena. The denomination is primarily defined by two categories: 'Reno Montuni', which must contain at least 85% of the local Montù grape, and 'Reno Bianco', a blend relying on Albana and Trebbiano Romagnolo (minimum 40% combined). These wines are characterized by their pale straw-yellow color, moderate structure, and refreshing acidity, often featuring delicate floral and fruity notes. The production zone, influenced by a continental climate with significant seasonal temperature variations, favors vigorous vine growth, traditionally managed with cordone speronato or G.D.C. training systems. The DOC offers still, frizzante, and spumante versions, the latter two being particularly representative of the area's historical preference for natural refermentation. These wines are designed to be approachable, sapid, and harmonious, reflecting the long-standing viticultural traditions of the Emilia-Romagna region.

The zone is defined by alluvial soils of medium texture tending toward clay, situated between the Panaro river and the surrounding Apennine foothills.
