Rubicone
About the wine
The Rubicone IGT covers a vast, historically significant viticultural area in the Emilia-Romagna region, encompassing the provinces of Forlì-Cesena, Ravenna, Rimini, and parts of Bologna. The territory is defined by diverse geomorphology, ranging from alluvial plains to the Apennine foothills, characterized by marly-arenaceous soils and a sub-continental climate. Rubicone wines are highly versatile, produced in white, red, and rosato styles, including still, vivace, frizzante, spumante, novello, and passito versions. The IGT allows for a wide range of international and indigenous grape varieties, reflecting the region's long history of viticulture dating back to Roman times. The disciplinare emphasizes traditional winemaking practices while permitting modern techniques to ensure quality across its diverse product range. It is a broad denomination designed to accommodate the varied terroir of the Romagna area, focusing on regional suitability rather than rigid stylistic constraints.
