Sillaro
About the wine
The Sillaro IGT, also known as Bianco del Sillaro, covers a broad geographic area spanning the provinces of Bologna, Forlì-Cesena, Ravenna, and Rimini in the Emilia-Romagna region. The denomination is exclusively reserved for white wines, which may be produced as still, frizzante, or novello styles. The production is centered on the Albana grape, which must constitute at least 70% of the blend, reflecting the historical importance of this indigenous variety in the Romagna territory. The remaining 30% may consist of other non-aromatic white grape varieties authorized for cultivation in the region. The area is characterized by diverse geological formations, ranging from the marnoso-arenacea (marl-sandstone) soils of the Apennine foothills to the alluvial plains near the Via Emilia. These wines are traditionally noted for their structure, sapidity, and freshness, with a long-standing local custom of producing frizzante styles.
