Bianco dell'Empolese
About the wine
Bianco dell'Empolese is a historic Tuscan DOC centered on the Trebbiano Toscano grape, which has been cultivated in the Arno river valley since antiquity. The appellation covers both a standard dry white wine and a traditional Vin Santo. The standard Bianco is characterized by a straw-yellow color, a delicate and fine bouquet, and a dry, harmonious palate with refreshing acidity. The Vin Santo, produced via natural drying of the grapes, offers a more complex profile ranging from golden to amber, with an intense, ethereal nose and a soft, lingering finish. The production area, situated in the province of Florence, benefits from a mix of alluvial plains and hilly terrain, creating a unique microclimate that allows for slow, complete ripening of the grapes. This DOC represents a long-standing tradition of white winemaking in a region historically dominated by red wine production, emphasizing the specific adaptation of Trebbiano to the local terroir.
