Rosso di Montalcino
About the wine
Rosso di Montalcino is a distinguished Tuscan DOC that serves as the vibrant, approachable counterpart to the prestigious Brunello di Montalcino. Produced exclusively from Sangiovese grapes grown within the municipality of Montalcino, this wine is celebrated for its freshness, primary fruit aromatics, and versatility. Unlike its long-aged sibling, Rosso di Montalcino is released for consumption relatively early—no earlier than September 1st of the year following the harvest—preserving the grape's natural fragrance and lively acidity. The terroir, characterized by diverse soils ranging from limestone to galestro and a Mediterranean climate with significant diurnal temperature shifts, imparts a distinct structure and elegant tannic profile. It is a wine that balances the intensity of the Montalcino landscape with a more immediate, drinkable character, making it an excellent companion for a wide range of regional cuisine.
