Esino
About the wine
The Esino DOC, established in 1995, encompasses a diverse viticultural area in the Marche region, spanning the entire province of Ancona and specific communes in the province of Macerata. This denomination serves as a versatile umbrella for wines that highlight the region's historical commitment to quality. The white wines are primarily based on the Verdicchio grape (minimum 50%), known for its structure and longevity, while the red wines rely on a blend of Sangiovese and Montepulciano (minimum 60%). The DOC includes still and frizzante white wines, as well as red and novello styles. The terroir is defined by a mix of hilly landscapes, alluvial soils, and a temperate climate influenced by both the Adriatic Sea and the Apennine mountains. Esino wines are characterized by their dry, harmonious profiles and represent a synthesis of traditional Marche viticulture and modern winemaking techniques, offering a reliable expression of the local landscape without the use of restrictive aging requirements.
