Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi
About the wine
Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi is one of Italy's most respected white wine denominations, centered in the Marche region. The wine is defined by the Verdicchio grape, which thrives in the hilly, calcareous soils of the Esino river basin. Known for its pale straw color, delicate floral and fruity aromas—often featuring notes of hawthorn, apple, and citrus—it is celebrated for its structural elegance and a signature, refreshing bitter almond finish. The 'Classico' designation identifies the historic heart of the production zone. The appellation offers versatile styles, ranging from crisp, dry table wines to complex 'Superiore' versions, as well as sparkling (Spumante) and sweet (Passito) expressions. The region's unique microclimate, influenced by both the Adriatic Sea and the Apennine mountains, provides the ideal conditions for the grape to maintain high acidity and aromatic complexity, making it a benchmark for Italian white viticulture.
