Rosso Cònero
About the wine
Rosso Cònero is a distinguished red wine appellation from the Marche region, centered on the limestone-rich slopes of the Monte Cònero promontory overlooking the Adriatic Sea. The DOC is defined by its reliance on the Montepulciano grape, which must constitute at least 85% of the blend. This variety thrives in the area's Mediterranean climate, benefiting from the protective influence of the mountain and the well-drained, sun-exposed soils. The resulting wine is typically deep ruby in color, characterized by a robust, full-bodied structure, and a distinct aromatic profile that evolves from youthful vinous notes to complex, jammy fruit and spice with age. The tannins, initially firm, soften significantly over time, making the wine both powerful and harmonious. Rosso Cònero represents a historic viticultural tradition dating back to ancient times, offering a unique expression of the Montepulciano grape that is distinct from its counterparts in Abruzzo due to the specific pedoclimatic conditions of the Ancona province.
