Falerio
About the wine
Falerio is a historic white wine denomination from the Marche region, specifically covering the provinces of Ascoli Piceno and Fermo. Established in 1975, the DOC encompasses two distinct typologies: the classic Falerio blend and the varietal Falerio Pecorino. The classic blend is traditionally composed of Trebbiano Toscano, Passerina, and Pecorino, resulting in a dry, harmonious, and sapid wine with floral and yellow fruit aromatics. The Falerio Pecorino, which must contain at least 85% of the namesake grape, offers a more structured profile with characteristic notes of white flowers, pineapple, anise, and sage, supported by a distinct mineral backbone. The region's unique terroir—characterized by clay-rich, calcareous soils and a Mediterranean-influenced climate—imparts a notable freshness and acidity to these wines. Falerio represents a deep-rooted viticultural tradition dating back to Roman times, reflecting the enduring synergy between the local landscape and the indigenous grape varieties of the Piceno area.

Production & aging
The production area is located in the southern Marche region, encompassing the entire administrative territories of the provinces of Ascoli Piceno and Fermo. The zone extends from the Adriatic coast up to the sub-Apennine hills, excluding valley floors, overly humid soils, and vineyards situated at altitudes exceeding 700 meters above sea level.
