Parrina
About the wine
The Parrina DOC, established in 1971, represents a distinct viticultural enclave in the Maremma region of Tuscany, specifically within the municipality of Orbetello. The denomination is characterized by its proximity to the coast and a unique pedoclimatic environment featuring sandy and clay-sandy soils of eocenic and neogenic origin. The wines are defined by a blend of traditional Tuscan varieties and international grapes. The reds, led by Sangiovese, are known for their structure and harmony, while the whites—often based on Ansonica, Trebbiano, and Vermentino—are noted for their freshness and affinity with local seafood. The DOC also includes a traditional Vin Santo, produced through a meticulous drying process. The production philosophy emphasizes low yields and specific site selection in hilly and sub-hilly areas, resulting in wines that reflect the maritime influence and the historical agricultural legacy of the Tenuta La Parrina estate.
