Terratico di Bibbona
About the wine
Established in 2006, the Terratico di Bibbona DOC covers a coastal stretch of the Tuscan province of Livorno, encompassing the communes of Rosignano Marittimo, Cecina, Bibbona, and Collesalvetti. The appellation benefits from a Mediterranean climate, with hills providing protection from winter extremes and sea breezes moderating summer heat, fostering optimal grape maturation. The DOC produces a diverse range of wines, including whites (predominantly Vermentino), rosés, and reds. The red wines are typically blends of Sangiovese and Merlot, though the appellation also permits varietal labeling for grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The 'Rosso Superiore' typology requires a minimum of 18 months of aging, with at least 12 months in wood. These wines are characterized by their harmony, elegance, and distinct regional identity, reflecting a long viticultural history that dates back to the Etruscan era.
