Terre di Offida
About the wine
The Terre di Offida DOC, located in the southern Marche region, is an appellation dedicated exclusively to the versatile Passerina grape. This DOC focuses on three distinct styles: Spumante, Passito, and the traditional Vino Santo. The Passerina grape is highly valued in this territory for its natural acidity, which makes it an excellent candidate for sparkling wine production, as well as its ability to concentrate sugars for dessert wines. The Passito and Vino Santo styles are characterized by a rich, amber-hued profile with complex notes of honey and dried fruit, achieved through careful drying of the grapes. The Spumante version offers a fresh, crisp, and fruit-forward experience. The production area, spanning the provinces of Ascoli Piceno and Fermo, benefits from a Mediterranean climate and clay-rich soils that provide the necessary water retention for high-quality viticulture. These wines represent a deep-rooted historical tradition of the Piceno area, refined through modern enological practices to highlight the unique character of the Passerina variety.
