Terre di Pisa
About the wine
The Terre di Pisa DOC, established in 2011, encompasses a diverse range of wines produced in the hilly landscapes of the Pisa province. The appellation highlights the region's historical viticultural heritage, blending traditional Tuscan varieties with international grapes. The portfolio includes a varietal Sangiovese, a structured red blend (often featuring Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah), a Riserva version, a rosato, and white wines based on Vermentino and Trebbiano. These wines are characterized by their balance, reflecting the area's sub-alkaline soils and Mediterranean-influenced climate. The reds are typically dry and harmonious, with the Sangiovese often displaying classic notes of cherry and violet, while the whites offer fresh, fruity profiles. The DOC emphasizes quality through strict yield controls and specific aging requirements, ensuring the wines express the distinct pedoclimatic identity of the Pisan hills.
