The Asolo Montello DOC, also known as Montello Asolo, encompasses a diverse range of wines produced in the hilly landscapes of the Treviso province in Veneto. Situated between the Montello and Asolo hills, this area benefits from unique geological formations—conglomerate soils rich in minerals—and a favorable microclimate protected from northern winds. The denomination is notable for its versatility, covering a wide spectrum of varietal wines, including international grapes like Merlot, Cabernet, and Chardonnay, as well as local specialties like Recantina and Bianchetta. The reds are characterized by their structure and aging potential, particularly the prestigious Venegazzù sub-zone, which requires specific blending and extended maturation. The white wines, including sparkling versions, are prized for their freshness and elegance. The production area is located in the province of Treviso, Veneto, covering the hilly and sub-hilly territories of the Montello and Asolo ranges. Key communes include Castelcucco, Cornuda, and Monfumo, with parts of Asolo, Maser, Montebelluna, and Volpago del Montello. The specific Venegazzù sub-zone is strictly limited to a defined portion of the Volpago del Montello municipality.
