Lison
About the wine
Lison DOCG represents the pinnacle of white wine production in the eastern Veneto and western Friuli borderlands. Historically associated with the Tocai grape—now officially designated as Tai—this denomination celebrates a unique terroir characterized by alluvial soils rich in clay and 'caranto' (calcium carbonate). The wine is defined by its straw-yellow color, often displaying greenish or golden reflections, and a sophisticated aromatic profile featuring fresh fruit and floral notes. On the palate, Lison is noted for its structure, velvety texture, and a signature finish of bitter almond, a hallmark of the Tai variety. The regulation mandates a minimum of 85% Tai, allowing for other non-aromatic, like-colored local varieties to complete the blend. With a focus on freshness and mineral depth, Lison is a testament to the historical influence of Benedictine viticulture and the Venetian Republic, offering a refined expression of the Adriatic plains that balances acidity with a persistent, savory finish.
