Colli Berici
About the wine
The Colli Berici DOC, located in the province of Vicenza, Veneto, encompasses a diverse range of wines reflecting the unique microclimates of the Berici Hills. The appellation is notable for its versatility, producing everything from crisp whites based on Garganega and Sauvignon to structured reds dominated by Merlot and the local Tai Rosso. The DOC also features a specialized sub-zone, Barbarano, dedicated to the production of Tai Rosso. The wines are characterized by their harmony and balance, with the reds often displaying notes of red forest fruits and the whites offering delicate floral and fruity profiles. The regulation allows for various styles, including Spumante (produced via both Metodo Classico and Charmat), Passito, and Riserva versions, which undergo extended aging to develop greater complexity and structure. This DOC represents a significant expression of Vicenza's viticultural heritage, balancing traditional practices with modern winemaking precision.
