Vicenza
About the wine
The Vicenza DOC is a versatile and expansive appellation covering a wide range of styles across the province of Vicenza in the Veneto region. Established to showcase the diversity of the local terroir, the DOC encompasses white, red, rosato, sparkling (spumante/frizzante), and passito wines. The white wines are typically based on Garganega, while the reds rely heavily on Merlot and various Cabernet varieties. The appellation also permits a significant number of varietal wines, including Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Nero, and the indigenous Raboso. These wines are characterized by their approachable, fresh, and harmonious profiles, with 'Riserva' versions offering increased structure, complexity, and aging potential. The production area spans diverse landscapes, from the Berici Hills to the foothills of the Alps, allowing for a broad spectrum of viticultural expressions that reflect the traditional winemaking heritage of the Vicenza territory.
