Marca Trevigiana
About the wine
The Marca Trevigiana IGT covers the entire province of Treviso in the Veneto region, an area historically known as the 'Marca Gioiosa.' The geography transitions from the northern Prealpi hills—famous for their viticultural heritage—to the fertile, river-fed plains of the south. The climate is temperate Mediterranean, benefiting from the protective influence of the mountains. The IGT allows for a wide range of white, red, and rosato wines, including frizzante and novello styles. These wines are characterized by their varietal expression, with white wines often showing freshness and sapidity, and red wines ranging from light to structured. The region has a deep-rooted history of viticulture, supported by early enological schools, and has long served as a key trade route for wine moving toward Central Europe. The IGT provides a flexible framework for producers to highlight specific varietals while maintaining the traditional character of the Treviso territory.
