Monti Lessini
About the wine
The Monti Lessini DOC, spanning the hilly landscapes between Verona and Vicenza, is defined by its unique volcanic soils and the prominence of the Durella grape. This ancient variety, known for its thick skin and high acidity, is the backbone of the appellation, particularly for its exceptional sparkling wines produced via the traditional method. Beyond the signature Durello, the DOC encompasses a diverse range of styles, including still white wines based on Chardonnay, a refined Pinot Nero, and a luscious Passito. The region's cool, well-ventilated slopes provide the ideal environment for these grapes to develop complexity and longevity. The sparkling wines, ranging from standard to Riserva and Crémant, showcase the area's mastery of bottle-fermentation, offering fine, persistent perlage and evolving aromatic profiles. Monti Lessini represents a distinct viticultural identity in the Veneto, balancing historical tradition with a modern focus on terroir-driven, high-acid, and structured wines.
