Veneto Orientale
About the wine
The Veneto Orientale IGT covers a diverse viticultural area spanning parts of the provinces of Venice and Treviso in northeastern Italy. The region features a temperate, humid climate influenced by the Adriatic Sea and the proximity of the Dolomite mountains. Soils are primarily alluvial, ranging from gravelly deposits in the northern reaches to finer silts and clays near the coast. The IGT allows for a wide range of wine styles, including white, red, and rosato, which can be produced as still or frizzante, as well as a novello style for reds. The production is characterized by a long history of viticulture, dating back to Roman times and further developed by Benedictine monks in the Middle Ages. The wines are noted for their balanced chemical profiles and clear expression of varietal characteristics, reflecting the specific terroir of the Venetian and Trevisan plains.
