Vigneti della Serenissima
About the wine
Vigneti della Serenissima (or Serenissima) is a specialized DOC dedicated exclusively to high-quality sparkling wines produced via the traditional method (rifermentazione in bottiglia). The appellation covers a broad, geologically diverse arc of hilly and mountainous terrain across the provinces of Belluno, Treviso, Padova, Vicenza, and Verona. By mandating the use of Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, and Pinot Nero, the DOC emphasizes a refined, 'aristocratic' style of viticulture rooted in the historical influence of the Venetian Republic. The wines are characterized by their freshness, sapidity, and fine, persistent perlage, with aging requirements that scale significantly from 12 months for the base and rosé versions to 36 months for the Riserva. This regulation ensures a focus on terroir-driven sparkling wine, excluding valley floors and favoring well-exposed slopes to achieve the necessary acidity and aromatic complexity.
